Otello

Opera | Theater Heidelberg, Germany | 2011

Director: Alexander Fahima

Costumes: Reinhard von der Thannen

Costumes co-design: Carolin Quirmbach

A massive minimalist wall directly behind the red curtain, charred and tarred wood, fog. Sliding walls opening up the inner life of this ‘war machine’ revealing a white increased horizontal excision and a red cabinet. The wall locates the play in the present without loosing the reference to the original setting and the former stages of Shakespeare. One big gesture in stead of the war ship, town wall and castle where this opera is originally located.
